Vegas Strong

I had another post planned for today, but it just didn’t seem right.

So many are suffering terribly after the horrific events that took place in Las Vegas a few days ago and it just feels wrong to continue on with normal life from a distance so soon.

What I am realizing more and more is that these insane events aren’t stopping, or even slowing down, for that matter. And they’re happening closer and closer to home.

Last month, our city endured a school shooting taking the life of one innocent boy.

This month, more than 58 innocent lives were lost in my home state.

While the locations are sporadic, the intentions are all the same; cruel and unfathomable.

And yes, after such horrific events hundreds and thousands of people come together to spread helping hands, comfort, and love. True heroes even emerge.

While great, uplifting, and comforting, it isn’t enough. Because it continues to happen.

I don’t have an answer for how to make it all stop.

And I am truly terrified that my children are being raised in such a world. And while I have yet to explain to them the horrific events that took place in our own city, in Las Vegas, and that continue to happen around the world, when I do decide to talk about it I will be focusing on the light. That when the most unimaginable evil emerges, we must overpower it with good.

I believe in the power of prayer. So today, I ask for your prayers.

Your prayers for the victims of the Vegas shooting. For the families and friends of those victims. For those who witnessed and were affected by the events. For our nation to come together.

Just pray.

  1. It’s horrific, and I hate that these things keep happening.

  2. I love the messages “overpower it with good” and “just pray”. Sometimes all we can do is pray. I too believe in the poet of pray. So I will just pray.

  3. love your take on this post. it was definitely a horrific event and so so sad to hear. I’m still thinking about all the victims…I can’t even imagine what it’s like to experience something so terrible like that

    • Same. There are so many people still living this horrific incident, I can’t help but constantly think about them.

  4. I agree- prayers are definitely needed! Thanks for sharing this heartfelt post!
